The next two Mondays (August 16th and 23rd) we will be having witch hunts. Don't worry it won't be scary. Well maybe a little. Here's how it will work.
1) Decks must be standard legal. 60 card minimum. Legal sets are Alara Block, Zendikar Block, M2010 and M2011. There are no restrictions on colors or commonality. If everyone wants to build all rare white decks that's fine.
2)No sideboards will be allowed. Sorry Spawnsire lovers.
3)Each round will be 45 minute, four person pods of multiplayer free-for-alls. When time is called, active player finishes their turn then each other player still alive gets a turn. One free mulligan will be allowed per person per round. After that mulligans cause you to draw one less card as usual. The first player to go will not draw an extra card. Players will roll die to determine seating choice.
4)There are no restrictions on who you attack or target.
5)Before each round starts all players will be given a random card face down. One person in each pod will receive a swamp card that marks them as the witch that round. DO NOT REVEAL YOUR CARD UNTIL YOU ARE DEALT LETHAL DAMAGE OR DECKED. You can say whatever you want, but if you reveal your card so that there is no doubt, you will be disqualified from the event.
6)Do not concede. If you have to leave because of an emergency please let the tournament director know first.
7)Scoring works as follows. Each player who lives through the round gets one point unless no one dies then no one receives any points. The player who defeats the witch gets three additional points. The witch gets one point at the end of the round for each other player who dies whether or not they were the one who killed them. Players who are not the witch do not receive (or lose)any points for killing another player who is also not a witch. However, killing players does keep them from getting their point for staying alive so aggression is generally a good idea.

Top Decks Feature (Legacy)
Legacy is a really fun format that lets you play cards from any set in magic except for the silver bordered Unglued and Unhinged. This can be a little intimidating if you are a new player. Here are some of the decks that have been doing well lately at Columbia Free Magic. Feel free to copy them or make your own monster that will crush them. Happy building!
1)G/W/B Rock or "Junk". This deck uses efficient creatures like tarmogoyf and Knight of the Reliquary along with card advantage spells like Hymn to Tourach to grind out advantageous board states where they have at least one morethreat than their opponents has answers. Here is a decklist http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=37047 Potential Weaknesses: Hyper aggressive decks like Mono Red Burn or glacially slow decks like Landstill
2)Dredge. This deck abuses it's graveyard by using a card called Bridge from Below that makes zombie tokens even when it is in the graveyard and several "dredgers" like Golgari Grave Troll that repeatedly put useful cards into the graveyard. Decklist: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=37034 Potential Weaknesses: Anything that can repeatedly remove graveyards. Once is not enough.
3)Affinity. This deck makes lots of artifacts very quickly and boosts their power using an equipment called Cranial Plating or sacrifices some to make one huge creature using an artifact creature called Arcbound Ravager. They also play a card called disciple of the vault that hurts their opponent whenever an artifact dies. Decklist: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=37037 Potential Weaknesses: Decks with both pinpoint removal like Swords to Plowshares to deal with Disciple and mass removal to destroy lots of artifacts at once.
4)Landstill. This control deck plays lots of counters and an enchantment called Standstill that lets a player draw three cards if their opponent plays a spell. By playing lots of lands that can turn into creatures like Mishra's Factory, Landstill can win if neither person plays spells. Decklist:
http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=36639 Potential Weaknesses: Decks that win quickly without relying on one key spell to resolve and/or decks that feature creatures with island walk that its lands can't block.
There are lots more decks, but these are a good starting point to consider. Have fun!
